North Caroline High Athletics

CAMBRIDGE — Finn Walsh and Charlotte Kratovil-Lavelle each smashed meet records Wednesday, Sept. 18, pacing Kent Island to a sweep of the annual Rumble in the Jungle meet at Cambridge-SD.

Walsh won the boys’ race in 16 minutes, 00.20 seconds, breaking the previous meet record of 16:38.04 set by Cambridge-SD’s Connor MccCroy. North Caroline’s Will Christophel was second in 16:37.60, also eclipsing McCroy’s meet standard.

The Buccaneers placed five in the top 10, with Isaiah Schulties finishing third (16:48.50) followed by Avery Hanesworth (sixth, 17:53.70), Jack Pearse (ninth, 18:09.70) and Paul Rayner (10th, 18:11.30). Kent Island finished with 29 points, with Cambridge-SD taking second (51 points).

Cambridge-SD’s John Condon was fourth in 17:02.90.

Kratovil-Lavelle completed the 3-mile run in 19:30.80, breaking the meet record set by Kent Island’s Molly Connelly (19:42.60). Freshman teammate Reese Delp was second in 20:02.10, followed by the Bucs’ Sarah van Ornum (sixth, 20:53.20), Hannah Claggett (seventh, 20:56.40), and Hazel Walsh (17th, 22:37.50). Kent Island totaled 30 points, followed by Stephen Decatur (61) and Queen Anne’s (89).

North Caroline’s Zoe Durner was third in 20:19.70, followed by Cambridge-SD’s Sarah Condon in fourth (20:29.00) in fourth.
