WESTMINSTER, Md — McDaniel College student Mikaela Walton of Greensboro performs with the McDaniel Jazz Ensemble during Jazz Night on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. The performance, which is free and open to the public, takes place in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md.

Directed by Tim Jenkins, music lecturer at McDaniel, the McDaniel Jazz Ensemble performs styles of jazz representing classic big band swing, bebop, Latin, Funk, Jazz-rock, and classic blues. In addition to McDaniel students, the ensemble includes McDaniel alumni and local high school students.

Among the pieces to be performed are “Mas Que Nada” by Jorge Ben (arranged by Tim Jenkins), “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blaine (arranged by Frank Devol), “Tuesday Heartbreak” by Stevie Wonder, “The Philosophers Stone” by Van Morrison (arranged by Tim Jenkins), and “Too Many Cooks,” an original piece composed by the McDaniel Jazz Ensemble.
