Greetings and blessings in the awesome name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We’ve made the shift from daylight savings time to standard time. Slow down, take a deep breath, the blossoms of summer have been replaced with the golden colors of fall. The beauty expressed in both truly speaks of the greatness of our God!

The longer days of sunlight that provided the extra hours for work, play, beaches, and cookouts have now slowed down and become memories in our hearts, pictures and videos on the cell phone.

During the longer days of sunlight our farm community was hard at work to prepare the fields for the planting of the crops that would produce a bountiful harvest for the coming winter. By now in times past the shelves would be filled with canned vegetables and jellies that came from moms kitchen, the smoke houses were filling up with meats for the winter months. The smell of the old wood stove was a sure sign of “Family Time”. Meals were eaten together, conversations were held together, you looked into one another’s faces and enjoyed the time to gather together as family.

Times have changed but there’s something so special about the holidays beginning with Thanksgiving that says to the heart of mankind, slow down, refocus on family and Creator.

Thanksgiving, not just a feast but a time to show our gratitude for what has been provided. In 1621 the colonial Pilgrims gathered together for the first Thanksgiving. They gave thanks and praise for the bounty of the field, enjoyed and cherished family and shared the blessings with others.

The celebration is still shared today and just the name Thanksgiving reminds us how we should live our lives each and every day, THANKFUL. Thankful for the struggles that God has brought us through, thankful for family and friends, possessions, HEALTH ,LOVE and JESUS.

Jesus our Way Maker, Promise Keeper, Light in Darkness. With the light of Jesus in our hearts daylight savings time and standard time becomes secondary.

We gather together to ask the Lords blessings....

Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining.....

We all do extol Thee, Thou Leader triumphant, and pray that Thou still our Defender will be.

As we gather together this Thanksgiving let our focus be on faith, family and the fellowship of love that never ends. Blessings and peace to all.
