RIDGELY — Jameyra Finney, an instructional assistant at Ridgely Elementary School, was recently awarded the Barbara Cook Scholarship by the Omicron Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa.

Finney was awarded $500 to support her educational expenses at Chesapeake College.

The Omicron Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa is an honorary teachers’ sorority comprised of Caroline County educators.

The Barbara Cook Scholarship was created in 2018 to support instructional assistants who are working for CCPS while earning a college degree in education.

Cook, a founding member of the chapter, retired from Caroline County Public Schools after 30 years of teaching. Her dedication to public education and the children of Caroline County continues to this day as she mentors teachers and provides leadership to the Omicron chapter members.
