AARP Tax Preparation. Free tax preparation assistance and e-filing. Please contact any open library location for more information or to schedule your AARP tax aide appointment: Central Library in Denton: 410-479-1343, ext. 1, Federalsburg Branch: 410-754-8397 or the North County Branch in Greensboro: 410-482-2173. Appointments available Monday through Wednesday. Appointments available through April 15, 2020.

Feb. 5 — Winter Story time! For children birth to age 5 and their caregivers. Wednesdays, 10:15 a.m. and 11 a.m., Denton.

Feb. 5 — #CrazyMessyFun! Fun (and messy) hands-on projects and activities for kids! The kind that mom won’t let you do at home. We say “show us your mess!” Designed for kids ages 6-12. No registration required. 6:15-7:30 p.m., Greensboro.

Feb. 6 — One-on-one tech assistance appointments for any device, including laptops, tablets, desktops and smartphones. Thursdays, 2-3 p.m. or 3-4 p.m., Greensboro. Call 410-482-2173 to register.

Feb. 6 — Medical Assistance enrollment — Caroline County Health Department staff assists with applications for health coverage and insurance. For more information, please call the Health Department at 410-479-8004. Thursdays, 2-4 p.m., Federalsburg.

Feb. 6 — R.E.A.D. to a Trained Dog — Practice reading to a trained service dog, Grigsby! Grigsby is a good listener and would love to have you read him a story! For children ages 5-12. Please call 410-479-1343 to register. Thursdays, 4:30-6 p.m., Denton.

Feb. 6 — Intro to Dungeons & Dragons: 5th Edition! — MakerSpace staff will give an 8-week overview of the worlds, rules, and mechanics of D&D. For more information, call the library at 410-479-1343 and mention the Dungeons & Dragons event. Thursdays, 5-7:30 p.m., Denton.

Feb. 7 — U.S. Census Job Fair — This job fair is hosted by the Caroline County Public Library and the Caroline Complete County Committee. Census staff will be present to assist with on-site applications. Applicants must be 18 years old with a valid driver’s license. Pay is $18.50 per hour plus .58 cents per mile. Jobs are temporary during Census season, April through July 2020 with paid training prior. Friday, 10 a.m.-noon, Federalsburg.

Feb. 7 — Special Movie Night — Come see the new movie about our local heroine of the Underground Railroad! Movie rated PG-13. Friday, 6-8 p.m., Denton.

Feb. 7 — Chess Club! Learn tactics, make friends, and, above all, have fun! Prior experience in chess is suggested, but not required. Fridays, 4-5:30 p.m., Denton MakerSpace.

Feb. 11 — Maryland Medical Assistance Program — Caroline County Health Department representatives will be available to assist individuals with enrollment in Medical Assistance, as well as answer questions about medical coverage, and/or discuss the benefits of having health insurance. Tuesday, 10 a.m. — 12:30 p.m., Greensboro.

Feb. 11 — “Hooked on Books” Book Group — Read and discuss interesting books (fiction and non-fiction), meet great new friends and share coffee, tea and treats each month at the Federalsburg Branch. Current selection is News of the World by Paulette Jiles. Tuesday, 6:30-8 p.m., Federalsburg.
