DENTON — Faye Harris, Greensboro Elementary School cafeteria manager, was named Caroline County’s School Nutrition Manager of the Year, and will represent the county in the Maryland School Nutrition Association’s statewide manager of the year competition.
Harris was recognized at the Caroline County Board of Education’s meeting, Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Beth Brewster, supervisor of food services, said Harris has been the manager at GES for 12 years, and always refers to students as her “babies.” Brewster said Harris heads a highly productive and successful staff, and that she helped in making design decisions for a new cafeteria.
Also on hand to celebrate the award was GES Principal Dawn Swann, assistant principals Kaitlyn Curren and Mary Jo Kerr, and cafeteria staff Marsha Kibler, Jenny Porter, Heather Sauerhoff, Angel Seiler and Kathy Whitson.
The Maryland School Nutrition Association manager of the year award will be announced at its annual banquet later this month.
The state award recognizes an MdSNA member manager who has made a notable contribution to the success of the school meals program in his or her school. The award is a great opportunity for counties to recognize a manager and bestow deserved recognition for a job well done and for others around the state to be inspired with ideas for their own programs.
