SANDY POINT — Maryland Natural Resources Police reported Wednesday that the Jane Doe who was pulled from the Chesapeake Bay on May 23 at Sandy Point State Park has died.
NRP officers were called around 1:38 p.m. Sunday for an unresponsive woman who was pulled from the water. She was taken to the hospital, where she remained in critical condition until Tuesday, when she died, police said.
Witnesses told police they didn’t see any friends or family with the victim while she was at the beach, so police asked the public’s help in identifying the woman by her tattoos.
They received numerous tips, which led to Jane Doe’s identification as Geeta Stowe, 42, of Linthicum Heights, NRP said. Her family has been notified.
The investigation into the drowning and official cause of death is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Cpl. Leonard at 443-775-9692 or dispatchers at 410-260-8888.
