WYE MILLS — Old Wye Mill will get in the holiday spirit with a Christmas store from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, and again Saturday, Dec. 21.

On sale will be unique candies, handmade pottery, stone-ground flours, maple syrup and hand-made ornaments and other crafts by local artist, Laura Hemsley of Queenstown. Santa will even make a stop during the Dec. 21 opening just prior to his big night on Christmas Eve.

Rhonda Corder, curator of the museum located at Old Wye Mill, noted this would be an opportunity for the public to buy unique gifts for loved ones that reflect the community.

“We are featuring some (limited edition) candies like dark chocolate and hand-painted and individually numbered and signed work by artists,” Corder said. “The community has always supported the mill especially with the restoration project. This is our fourth year doing the Christmas shop and much of what we feature is food from the heart and locally sourced goods.”

Corder noted that many of the products tend to go fast, especially the homemade jellies and jams that will often be used for holiday baking.

With more than 100 visitors averaging the first day of the Christmas store, Corder would like to invite anyone looking for special gifts.
