Memorial Horseshoe Tournament honors Phil Pobletts

Winners of the Kent Island Elks, Lodge 2576, first-ever Phil Pobletts Memorial Horseshoe Tournament, from the left; Champions Tom Mills of Cambridge and partner Joe Winkler of Glen Burnie, Kent Island Elks Tournament Coordinator Tom Thombs, and second-place winners Ray Miller of Glen Burnie and Rich Dempsey of Lothian. Fourteen teams competed, Saturday, Aug. 8, in the double elimination format. Phil Pobletts had been a member of the Kent Island Elks horseshoe league for nearly a decade, loved the sport, and fellowship of the league members. Photographs pictured were of his family and his love of outdoor events. He passed away in February of 2020.
