An arrest warrant has been issued for Jones charging him with burglary, theft, motor vehicle theft and assault.
Deputies responded to Friel Lumber at 9:13 a.m. July 21 for a report of burglary and theft. They met with employees who said someone had made entry into the business’ lot and stole the company’s 2014 Ford F-150 truck, police said.
The truck was later located in the 100 block of South Linden Street in Sudlersville, where deputies found a man sleeping in the driver’s seat, police said. When th deputies attempted to arrest the man, he managed to get the vehicle in gear and took off — almost injuring one of the deputies, police said.
They located the truck traveling on Route 302 outside of Barclay. The truck drove into Hartly, Del., and left the road, resulting in a single-vehicle crash, which is being investigated by the Delaware State Police. The driver left the crash scene, and police searched, but could not find him.
