KENT NARROWS — Three Queen Anne’s County volunteer fire departments were dispatched to a small boat yard at the Kent Narrows this afternoon, Dec. 27, after two boats caught fire, Grasonville Volunteer Fire Chief Jason Anthony said.

Having received a call at about 2:40 p.m. about a fire in a boat yard across from The Narrows Restaurant on the other side of U.S. 301, Grasonville, Kent Island and United Communities Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene and extinguished the fire in about 15 minutes, Anthony said.

Both boats, about 25 to 30 feet long and located on land, were in the process of being shrink-wrapped for the winter when one boat caught fire, causing damage to the other vessel, Anthony said.

No one was injured in the accidental fire, Anthony said.

This story will be updated once the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office releases an incident report.
