QUEENSTOWN — Grasonville Volunteer Fire Department units assisted Queenstown VFD with a motor vehicle accident on June 13 when a car driving down the road was struck by a large tree, trapping the driver inside.

The crash occurred on US Route 50 in the area of the Rt. 50/301 exchange causing the roadway to be closed while the driver was extricated and the tree removed.

The driver of the vehicle, Theresa Perkins posted on social media following the accident, “I have to say that my guardian angel had her wings around me and I walked away from this. I seen [sic] the tree falling and there was nothing I could do but hold on tight. I want to thank all the first responders and state troopers who helped me, you are all amazing.”

Maryland State Police said three vehicles were involved, but no injuries were reported. The State Highway Administration also responded.
