CHURCH HILL — A Chestertown man faces drug charges following a traffic stop Jan. 9.
Deputy Joseph Miller of the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office reported he stopped a 2008 Chevrolet Impala for failing to stop at a stop sign at Route 405 and Route 19 at 2:04 p.m. The driver, identified as David Lee Freeman, 28, was the only occupant.
During the stop, Miller requested assistance from a K-9. Dfc. Chris Ahearn and his K-9 partner responded and conducted an open air scan which yielded a positive result, police said.
A search found several clear gelatin capsules containing a white powdery substance suspected to be heroin.
Freeman was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken before a Queen Anne’s County court commissioner and released on $1,000 unsecured bond.
A trail date is set for Feb. 24 in Queen Anne’s County District Court.
