HILLSBORO — Fire damaged a residence on Butler Court in Hillsboro Estates Thursday night, Aug. 1.
Queen Anne-Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Company responded to the one-story, wood-frame, single-family dwelling at 22319 Butler Court at 10:55 p.m.
It took 50 firefighters about half an hour to control the fire, which started on an exterior porch, according the the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office. The fire was discovered by one of the home’s occupants.
QA-Hillsboro was assisted in fighting the blaze by Denton, Ridgely and Cordova volunteer fire departments, said QA-Hillsboro VFC President Phil Starkey. No injuries were reported.
The fire marshal’s office identified the residents as Darlene Bellamy and Tiara Bellamy. According to the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation, the property belongs to Peter H. Turkopuls of Cambridge.
Damages to the structure are estimated at $140,000 and to the contents at $20,000.
