Dumpster damaged by fire

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of a fire that damaged a metal trash bin on Church Hill Road Saturday night, Sept. 21.

KINGSTOWN — The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a Dumpster fire that occurred Saturday night, Sept. 21.

Church Hill Volunteer Fire Department responded to 7121 Church Hill Road at 8 p.m. for a reported fire inside a metal trash bin owned by Republic Services. It took eight firefighters about 16 minutes to put out the fire, the fire marshal’s office said.

The fire was discovered by the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Department fire chief.

An estimated $800 in damage was done to the bin, according to the fire marshal’s report.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. If anyone has information regarding this fire, contact the Upper Eastern Regional Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal at 410-822-7609.
