CHURCH HILL — A Church Hill man has been charged with the burglary of Rhodes Store on Main Street.
The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Matthew Walsh Jr., 55, at his Walnut Street home about 5 a.m. Jan. 30 after serving a search warrant there. He is charged with 2nd-degree burglary, 4th-degree burglary, theft $1,000-$10,000, and malicious destruction of property.
The burglary occurred at 3:48 a.m. Jan. 12; a man entered the store and stole an undisclosed amount of Money. After reviewing surveillance footage and partnering with the Centreville Police Department, investigators identified Walsh as the suspect.
“This is yet another example of allied agencies working together for the betterment of our community,” Sheriff Gary Hofmann said. “We will not tolerate criminal activity in our county. If you commit a crime in Queen Anne’s County, we will locate, apprehend, and prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law.”
Walsh is being held without bond in the Queen Anne’s County Detention Center. A preliminary hearing has been set for Feb. 27 in district court.
