QUEENSTOWN — Ordinance 19-01, introduced by Queenstown Town Commissioner Tom Willis, is being considered for adoption and would entirely repeal the former and reenact a new town zoning map if approved.
The reason for the move, according to the ordinance, is because “it is desirable in the public interest to revise the zoning map in conjunction with the zoning ordinance in a manner to ensure that the map is kept up-to-date and will better serve the public and citizens.”
The new zoning map was prepared by Peter Johnston and Associates, LLC on April 26.
The base zoning districts included in the proposed map include: R-1 Residential, R-2 Residential, TC_Town_Center, HC Highway Commercial, RC Regional Commercial, I Industrial, QRD Queenstown Resort, and QCS Queenstown Countryside.
Floating zones on the new map are PRC Planned Regional Commercial, Pending, and PN Planned Neighborhood Development.
Overlay districts accounted for are CR Community Redevelopment Overlay, and a Critical Area Overlay District.
Finally, Queen Anne’s County zoning classifications included are suburban residential and countryside.
The public can provide testimony on ordinance 19-01 on Wednesday, June 19, at 7 p.m. at the Queenstown town office, and the official ordinance is available at www.queens town-md.com.
