CENTREVILLE — A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. will complete an examination of all aspects of Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff’s policies and procedures, management, operations and support services, during the week of July 6.
The purpose of the assessment is to determine if the Office of the Sheriff meets standards required by the Commission in order for the Office of the Sheriff to continue to be accredited. CALEA accreditation is a voluntary process the Office of the Sheriff has been participating in and implementing best practices. This demonstrates the commitment of the men and women of the Office of the Sheriff to professional law enforcement in and for the community.
As part of the assessment process, agency employees and members of the Queen Anne’s County community are encouraged to offer comments to the assessment team regarding the department’s candidacy for accreditation.
Due to the current pandemic, the assessment team will receive public comment by several means:
• The public may call 410-758-0770 between 1 and 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, to offer their comments directly to the CALEA assessors.
• Send mail to: The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc., 13575 Heathcote Blvd., Suite 320, Gainesville, VA 20155-6660.
