ANNAPOLIS — Westbound lanes on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge were closed on Tuesday, April 20 after a crash, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority at approximately 4:40 p.m. Westbound lanes were completely restricted after the crash.
According to Brady McCormick, MDTA spokesperson, at 2:57 p.m., police responded to calls for a collision on the westbound span of the Bay Bridge. The crash was a head-on collision and occurred when the span was in two-way operations.
McCormick said four vehicles were involved and multiple patients were transported to local hospitals with injuries. The MDTA Police Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and is investigating the crash.
The westbound span was closed for a period of time due to the crash response and investigation. All lanes were reopened by 6 p.m.
