BARCLAY — The Barclay Town Commission recently welcomed a new member. Robin McKinney joined the board in June, replacing Bill Ward.

Ward decided to retire and did not seek another term in the June election, said Town Manager Virginia Albers. MicKinney was the only candidate to file, so the election was canceled, as according to town charter, and McKinney sworn in.

With McKinney on the Barclay Town Commission are Brian DeMoss and Norman “Joey” Clough. The commissioners are elected for staggered, three-year terms. DeMoss’ term is up in 2022; Clough’s in 2023; McKinney’s in 2024.

The commissioners meet at 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month. All three commissioners must be present to conduct town business because they passed an ordinance in 2017 requiring three be present in order to constitute a quorum.

According to the 2010 Census, Barclay has 120 residents.
