Moore gets car as Teacher of the Year

Queen Anne’s County Teacher of the Year Rhoda Moore, first grade teacher at Matapeake Elementary, stands with her class and a new car provided by Hertrich Ford for her use during her tenure as Teacher of the Year.

STEVENSVILLE — Rhonda Moore, first grade teacher and current Teacher of the Year for Queen Anne’s County, received a brand new 2018 Ford Explorer XLT Premium donated by Hertrich Ford of Easton on Wednesday, Oct. 3. Presenting her with the keys was Greg Starky, general manager of Hertich Group. Moore will have use of the vehicle for the next year as she represents QACPS at various events and workshops around the state. This is the sixth year the Hertrich Group dealerships have offered the use of a new vehicle to the recipient of the Teacher of the Year.

Moore has entered her 19th year of teaching. She began in Queen Anne’s County as a third grade teacher at Bayside Elementary School. She moved to Matapeake in 2004 and has been a first grade teacher there for the past 11 years. Moore has held a variety of positions outside the classroom including First Grade Team Leader and member of the School Improvement Team. She has also worked in curriculum development for both math and reading.
