CENTREVILLE — Kennard Elementary School had a great turnout for Grandparents Day on Nov. 11.
Fifth-grade students practiced for several weeks to entertain the grandparents and special visitors that came to KES. They performed two fall, one grandparent and one Veterans Day song for the morning event. Afterward, grandparents and special visitors were able to see what the students in fifth grade were learning in their homeroom classes. There were also specified times for third and fourth grade visits.
Class activities included such things as interviewing grandparents; a “Trashball Trivia Contest” with questions focusing on 1980s trivia, Disney and fifth grade common knowledge; comparing how pop culture has changed over time; and sharing a favorite learning tool Kahoot. Grandparents and special friends talked about what school was like when they were in the fifth grade, what jobs they had and how technology has changed since they were kids.
