PASADENA — The Pasadena Sportfishing Group’s Kids Fishing Derby will take place 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at Fort Smallwood Park in Pasadena, for children ages 4 to 13.

Pre-registration fee of $5 per child is required by June 25, and it will be refunded at sign-in the day of the event or returned if the event is canceled. Open to the public. Adults are not allowed to fish, but may help their children. Free entry into park between 7:30 and 8:15 a.m.

Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ rules and regulations must be followed. Kids do not need a fishing license. You must supply your own rod, reel and tackle. Free worms will be provided by Fishbones Bait and Tackle or you can bring your own bait.

All fish must be caught on a hook and line. No more than one line per fisherman. All undersized rockfish must be released. Fish must be measured from tip of nose to end of tail.

Prizes for the three largest fish will be awarded in two age categories: 4 to 8 and 9 to 13. Limit one prize per child. Plus, there will be five door prizes. A casting range will be located near the fishing area; try to hit the fish eye, prizes will be awarded.

A horn will sound to stop fishing at 10:30 a.m. Food, drinks and snacks will be provided for lunch at the pavilion with prizes awarded following.
