CHESTER — The Kent Island IHOP, located on the 300 block of Abruzzi Drive, is closed until further notice.

Members of the Grasonville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the pancake house after a waterflow alarm set off a sprinkler. When firefighters shut off the water, flames “shot out” of the restaurant’s hot water heaters, according to First Assistant Chief Steven McCombs, leadings volunteers to shutting down power.

The store’s manager referred The Bay Times to IHOP’s corporate office, representatives from which were not immediately available for comment.
