QUEENSTOWN — The fourth annual Jacob Sloan Memorial Golf Tournament was held once again at Queenstown Harbor Golf. The Sept. 9 tournament dedicated to the late Jacob Sloan to raise funds for people in need, continued the success of previous years. Prior to this year, the previous three tournaments had raised nearly a quarter of million dollars, of which 45 grants have been made to local people in need of help.

Most recently, grants have been made to: Will-Power Foundation (St. Jude to find cures and save children from Childhood Cancer), Julianne Rosela Foundation, Haven Ministries, Bulk Food for children at risk, Kent Island Youth Baseball & Softball Program, and family assistance individualized grants to help with utility bills and mortgage payments.
