Music Under the Sky

The Kent Island Library will host an outdoor concert by J. Coursey Willis at 6 p.m. June 18.

STEVENSVILLE — On Tuesday, June 18 at 6 p.m., the Kent Island Library, 200 Library Circle, will host an outdoor concert by local musician J. Coursey Willis. Pack a picnic and bring the family, blankets, and chairs to enjoy a summer evening of music.

The event is part of A Universe of Stories summer reading for adults and families, sponsored by Friends of Queen Anne’s County Library.

Fusing elements of rock, blues, and country with an acoustic inspiration, Willis gathered influences from bands such as Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, and Smashing Pumpkins, as well as earlier pioneers like Led Zeppelin, Muddy Waters, and Little Walter. While attending Kent Island High School, Willis began writing and performing music in his first band. He performed with several bands before going solo. He is currently working on his debut EP, “Missing October.”

The program is free and open to the public. Call the Kent Island Library at 410-643-8161 or visit calendar.qaclibrary.org for more information about this and other summer reading events.
