Sign vandals

This GOP of Kent County billboard, previously on state Route 213 near Chestertown, was vandalized. The sheriff's office is reporting a spate of political signs being vandalized or stolen around the county.

The Kent County Republican Central Committee reports that the GOP billboard on state Route 21, near the Chestertown Animal Hospital was vandalized on Friday. The billboard, the third one placed by the party this year, was installed in May.

The vandal used red spray paint on both the billboard and its frame, showing his or her support for Democrat Barack Obama.

Two previous Republican signs also were destroyed, and those acts were reported to the Kent County Sheriff's Office, according to KCRCC news release.

On Tea Party Weekend, a large “Dan Bongino for U.S. Senate” sign was destroyed on private property on Cross Street in Chestertown next to the town hall. In early June, another large securely staked Dan Bongino sign was destroyed on Thornmar Farm, on Route 213 across from the animal hospital.

The central committee is asking anyone with information regarding these crimes to contact the sheriff's office at 410-778-2279.
