CHESTER, PA. — Widener University announces local students who achieved dean’s list status during the spring semester.

Tykeya Jones of Worton is majoring in early childhood and special education.

Hailey Wallace of Galena is majoring in psychology.

The dean’s list recognizes full-time students who earned a grade point average of 3.50 and above for the semester.

HARRISONBURG, VA. — Amber Marie Receski of Galena graduated with a degree in social work from James Madison University during the May 4 commencement exercises.

SALISBURY — Mollie Jewell, daughter of Patricia Sturdevant-Jewell of Galena, recently received the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship during Salisbury University’s annual Honors Convocation.

The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a grant program that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, gaining skills critical to national security and economic competitiveness.

Jewell is a junior majoring in biology. She is treasurer of the Delta Alpha Pi international honor society, outreach coordinator for SU’s chapter of the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, secretary of the Honors Student Association, editor of The Saunterer honors college magazine, an Honors College ambassador and a biology laboratory assistant.

Jewell also is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Beta Beta honor societies. She is a 2015 graduate of the Tome School in North East.
