To the editor: One of the preferred food sources of rock fish is menhaden. If there is not enough menhaden, the rock fish population will decrease, and the rock fish will eat blue crabs, reducing their population.

Rock fish and blue crabs are the life blood of the Chesapeake and a valuable asset that if lost will not only cost Maryland Millions in revenue and decimate thousands of small businesses that cannot stay in business without a healthy food chain in the Chesapeake.

Please do not certify Omega Protein’s menhaden fishery. Protect the health of the Chesapeake Bay and tens of thousands of workers that make their living from Her.

Thank you in advance for your help.
