CHESTERTOWN — Daeshawn Ryan Shouman, 24, Worton, on July 22, was charged with possession of marijuana, more than 10 grams; possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He initially was held in the Kent County Detention Center without bail.
Police located suspected drugs while conducting a traffic stop.
Shouman also was charged with traffic offenses and attempting to elude uniformed police by fleeing on foot.
It is alleged that he failed to stop at a stop sign; failed to drive right of center; and failed to obey properly placed traffic control device instructions.
DFC Jordan Proudfoot reported that while he was conducting a roadside interview, he could see that Shouman's eyes were red and glassy and he smelled alcohol on Shouman's breath, according to a sheriff's office news release.
Shouman was charged with driving, attempting to drive while impaired by alcohol; driving, attempting tp drive while under the influence of alcohol; driving, attempting to drive while impaired by alcohol while transporting a minor; reckless driving; negligent driving; and driving without required license and authorization.
DFC Proudfoot conducted the traffic stop at 2 a.m. on Cloquet Road.
