MELITOTA — Police reported that a bicyclist was airlifted to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after being struck by a motor vehicle Nov. 1.

He was identified as Jose Orellana, 37, of Chestertown.

A Shock Trauma spokesman on Nov. 5 reported that Orellana was not listed on the patient census.

According to police, Orellana was injured at 7:26 p.m. on Melitota Road, east of state Route 298.

Donald Keith Sparks Sr., 60, Chestertown, was identified as the driver. He was operating a 2007 GMC Sierra, according to an MSP news release.

Sparks was charged with failure of vehicle driver to use care to avoid collision with a bike operated by a person.

Rock Hall Police

ROCK HALL — Lily Marie Trego, 19, Rock Hall, on Oct. 22, was issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana, less than 10 grams. 

Sgt. Christopher F. Wode conducted the traffic stop on Rock Hall Avenue.

Kent County Sheriff

CHESTERTOWN — A 14-year-old Chestertown girl, on Oct. 27, was referred to the Department of Juvenile Services on a complaint of driving without a license. She was released into the custody of a parent.

Cpl. G. Travis Manning conducted the traffic stop at 12:30 a.m. on Melitota Road at Hanesville Road.
