CONTEMPT. Samuel Kano Deya, 40, Newark, Del., on Dec. 16, was issued a circuit court arrest warrant charging him with contempt of court. He initially was held in the Kent County Detention Center without bail.
TRAFFIC. Lamont Dervon Kennard, 36, Chestertown, on Dec. 16, was issued a Queen Anne's County District Court summons charging him with driving on a suspended license; failure to display license on demand; reckless driving; negligent driving; driving at speed exceeding limit; and attempt to elude police by failing to stop.
THEFT. A 14-year-old male on Dec. 16 was referred to the Department of Juvenile Services on a complaint of theft. He is accused of taking a punching bag (valued at $150) in the 28000-block of Creamery Street, Kennedyville. DFC Collin W. Shockley investigated.
MDOP. Cpl. G. Travis Manning is investigating a Dec. 16 complaint of malicious destruction of property — keying the exterior of a motor vehicle — in the 28000-block of Creamery Street, Kenendyville. Cost to repair the damage is estimated to be $3,000.
SEX OFFENDER. There is an open warrant for Bret Smith Kauffman, 43, who allegedly failed to notify officials of his change of address. He is a Tier III sex offender who no longer is living at the Millington address he provided to police, according to a sheriff's office news release. Police believe that Kauffman is now living in Delaware.
MDOP. DFC Collin W. Shockley is investigating a Dec. 17 complaint of malicious destruction of property (to a motor vehicle) on Caulk's Field Road/Georgetown Road near Chestertown. The complainant estimated the cost to repair the damage to be $8,000, according to a sheriff's office news release.
RUNAWAY. A 13-year-old male from the Chestertown area, on Dec. 18, was referred to the Department of Juvenile Services on a complaint of being a runaway. He was released into the custody of a parent. DFC David W. Nolan investigated.
DISTURBANCE. A 14-year-old male from Chestertown and a 13-year-old male from Rock Hall, on Dec. 19, were referred to the Department of Juvenile Services on a complaint of disturbing school operations. They were identified as students at Kent County Middle School and allegedly were involved in a fist fight at school. They were suspended, according to a sheriff's office news release. Cpl. Nate Blazejak, the school resource deputy, investigated.
DRUGS. A 15-year-old male from the Rock Hall area, on Dec. 20, was referred to the Department of Juvenile Services on a complaint of possession of marijuana. The offense is alleged to have occurred in the 25000-block of Lambs Meadow Road, Worton. DFC Samuel Manning investigated.
THEFT. Sgt. J. Nicholas Watson is investigating a Dec. 20 theft of a delivery box containing two tablets from the front steps of an apartment in the 23000-block of Baywood Court, near Fairlee. Loss is estimated to be $160.
MDOP. Deputy Ryan Price is investigating a Dec. 22 complaint of malicious destruction of property in the 31000-block of Olivet Circle, Galena. The complainant told police that someone threw an object through a glass window. Police reported that a suspect has been identified.
