CHESTERTOWN — Compass Regional Hospice is offering a grief support group for men and women who have experienced the death of a spouse or partner.

The first meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Heron Point of Chestertown. The group will meet every Wednesday through Dec. 11. Participants are asked to commit to attending all or most of the eight sessions in order to benefit the most from the group, a news release states.

The grief support group will be facilitated by Ann O’Connor, a bereavement counselor for Compass Regional Hospice.

According to a news release, participation in support groups offered through Compass Regional Hospice, offers companionship and understanding from others who are experiencing the similar challenges that living with grief brings.

“Together the group members share ways to cope with their changed situation, realizing that grieving and adjusting to new ways of living take time” said O’Connor.

Each group session will revolve around topics such as grief, sharing memories and adjusting to and finding meaning in your loss, and include specialized activities, teachings and open discussions.

For more information and to register for the upcoming adult grief support group, call Compass Regional Hospice, 443‐262‐ 4124, or email Ann O’Connor, aoconnor@compassregionalhospice.org.
