WORTON — All head coaching positions have been filled at Kent County High School for the winter season, and approved by the school board at its Oct. 14 meeting. The first day of practice, as allowed by the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association, is Nov. 15.
The coaching staffs return intact just about across the board from last year. They are listed here.
BOYS BASKETBALL: Sobaye Scott, head varsity coach; James “Buck” Kennard, assistant varsity coach; Darryl Deaton, head junior varsity coach; and Dominick Harris, volunteer assistant junior varsity coach.
GIRLS BASKETBALL: Tishara Collins, head varsity coach; and Jasmine Robinson, assistant coach.
CHEERLEADING: Jessica Arminio, head coach; and Sally Futty, assistant coach.
INDOOR TRACK: Rich Shaw, head coach; and Henry Sabetti, assistant coach.
SWIMMING: Ruth Reed, head coach.
UNIFIED STRENGTH/CONDITIONING: Christa Collison, head coach.
WRESTLING: Chris Yiannakis, head coach; Taylor Moore, assistant coach; and volunteers Matt Jones, Michael Mench, Mike Menefee and Donnie Yerkie.
Orientation — for new and returning athletes and their parents — is 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 in the high school auditorium.
Attendance is strongly encouraged.
This is an ideal time to meet the coaches, and to find out about their training requirements, practice schedules and expectations for the season.
Kent athletes are reminded that they cannot practice or participate until they have a completed physical on file at school.
