MASSEY — The Middletown, Del. Chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association in conjunction with Massey Aerodrome will provide free airplane rides to young people during Young Eagles Day.

Rides will be offered for children ages 8 to 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday Sept. 9. The event is weather permitting with no rain date.

Parents or guardians must be present to provide permission. Free hot dogs and hamburgers will be available.

“Young Eagles” who take an airplane ride will receive a certificate attesting to having flown on this date.

According to a news release, the mission of the Young Eagles program is to introduce young people to the world of flight by providing airplane rides. The flight is free, safe and flown by FAA licensed and experienced volunteer pilots.

The news release states, “We hope to inspire these ‘Young Eagles’ to continue to explore the world of aviation.”

Massey Aerodrome is located at 33541 Maryland Line Road. Flights are first come, first served. Register for a flight when you arrive so that you can be assigned an estimated flight time.
