STEVENSVILLE — The Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department assisted Maryland Natural Resources Police in recovering a body from the Chesapeake Bay Sunday afternoon, Feb. 9, after calls reporting seeing it floating near a private pier on the 3000 block of Love Point Road north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge at about 2:30 p.m.

NRP public information officer Lauren Moses referred calls for information to Maryland Transportation Authority Police, saying NRP was just assisting MDTA Police with the case.

MDTA Police Lt. Kevin Ayd said a car was found abandoned on the bridge about 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, but added he did not know if the two were related.

The body has been taken to the Office of the State Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsy and identification, Ayd said.
