2 alarms sounded for structure fire on Old Locust Grove Road

KENNEDYVILLE — Investigators have not determined the cause or area of origin of a structure fire Monday afternoon in the 29000-block of Old Locust Grove Road.

Anyone who has information is asked to contact the Upper Eastern Regional Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal at 410-822-7609.

About 40 firefighters responded to the two-alarm blaze, which was brought under control in 64 minutes, according to a news release from the fire marshal’s office.

Galena Volunteer Fire Company was the primary responding agency.

The estimated loss to the 1,700-square foot outbuilding/storage facility at 29419 Old Locust Grove Road and contents is $32,000, according to the news release.

The owner discovered the fire at 3:03 p.m.

The fire marshal’s office identified the owner as Locust Grove Properties. The Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation listed the owner as Roger L. Reed.
