CHESTERTOWN — Washington College head men’s basketball coach Aaron Goodman has been selected by STUDENTathleteWorld (SaWUSA) to represent the United States in the 2021 Portugal Basketball Festival, an international sporting competition in Lisbon in late June.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity that founder Tim Ryerson and SaWUSA International is providing me,” Goodman said in a news release.

He said it has been a dream of his to coach abroad and represent the United States, and “I’m very much looking forward to this special experience.”

In addition to international sport competition, there will be opportunities for personal growth and leadership development through international travel, according to the news release.

Goodman is in his sixth year as the Shoremen’s head coach.

Prior to his hiring in May 2015, Goodman spent nine years as an assistant coach at the U.S. Naval Academy. For three years he was the head coach of the Navy Basketball Development Team (the academy’s junior varsity program).
