CHESTERTOWN — Lorraine Weber Martin passed away on July 18, 2021, at the age of 92.
She was born in Cohoes, N.Y. to Stella Marie Acenbrack Weber and Raymond Matthew Weber. She attended nursing school at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, N.Y. and then worked as a nurse. There she met her husband Hunt; they were married in December 1950. They lived and raised their family first in the Washington, D.C. area, and then in Pittsburgh, Pa. She was active as a Girl Scout leader and worked as a nurse in a pediatrician's practice. They later chose to spend their retirement years in Chestertown.
Lorraine loved gardening, reading, boating on the Chesapeake Bay and spending time with family and friends. She volunteered for many years at Chester River Hospital and was a past president of the Chestertown Garden Club. She was a member of St. Paul's Kent where she was active in the Altar Guild, ushered Sunday services and helped with the annual turkey dinner and other community outreach events.
Lorraine is predeceased by her three siblings Janet Monroe, Marilyn Weber and Maylon Weber, as well as her husband Hunt V. Martin Jr.
She is survived by her daughters Melissa Martin (Pete Lunt), Melanie Cable (Doug) and Claire Gorton (Ben); grandchildren Chris, Alicia, Megan, Justin, Allison and Kristina; and great-grandson John.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14, at Wesley Hall, Heron Point, Chestertown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heron Point Benevolence Fund or to St. Paul's Kent.
