CHESTERTOWN — Eugene J. Mills Jr. “Gene”, 70, of Chestertown passed away on June 6, 2021 at home after a long illness.

Born on Oct. 29, 1950, he was the son of the late Eugene J. Mills Sr. and Catherine Louise Mills of Kennedyville. He was raised in Kennedyville and graduated from Chestertown High School in 1968. He served his country in the Maryland National Guard from 1968 until 1974. Working together with his father, Gene opened Geno’s Automotive Services in 1970 and continued operating the business for the past 50-plus years. He was a hard worker and humble businessman, dedicated to his business and always concerned for family, employees, customers and friends. As posted on the wall at Geno’s, his motto was “Our Goal, Customer Satisfaction.” When he took time for himself, he enjoyed fishing and crabbing on the Bay and restoring classic cars.

In addition to his wife Cindy (née Luttrell), he is survived by three sisters, Shirley Pechin of Sudlersville, Sally Hurtt (Tom) of Golts, Barbara Allen (Albert) of Church Hill; and a brother Eddie Mills (Vonnie) of Kennedyville; 11 nieces and nephews and their families. He was Dad to Tricia Patrick Blaser and Mary Patrick and Pop Pop to Helen.

A viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 11 in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, Galena, Md., where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 12. Burial at Still Pond Cemetery.
