CHESTERTOWN — Cameron Darnell Lewis, 25, and Damontrall Jerry Miles, 37, both of Rock Hall, on Jan. 29, were charged with drug-related offenses including altering physical evidence of a crime and multiple counts of possession of a narcotic with intent to distribute.
Both initially were held in the Kent County Detention Center without bail.
Additionally, Lewis was charged with numerous traffic offenses that include negligent driving; reckless driving; attempt to elude police by failing to stop; driving at speed exceeding limit; failure to drive right of center; operating an unregistered motor vehicle; and displaying, permitting to be displayed registration plates issued for other vehicle, to other person.
Miles was charged with providing a false statement to police.
DFC Dave Nolan stopped a vehicle at 2:04 p.m. on state Route 20 in the area of Broad Neck Road after determining that the license plate had been switched, according to a sheriff's office news release.
DFC Nolan reported that as he was approaching the vehicle, the driver, subsequently identified as Lewis, fled from the stop location. The occupants of the vehicle, identified as Lewis and Miles, allegedly discarded suspected drugs from the vehicle.
Lewis stopped after a short pursuit, according to police.
Suspected crack and powder cocaine, suspected heroin and suspected fentanyl were recovered near the scene.
Queen Anne's Sheriff
CHURCH HILL — Davon Rondel Geter Jr., 22, Washington, D.C., on Jan. 28, was charged with failure to "move over" and make a lane change for an emergency vehicle on the shoulder of the roadway; and driving without a license.
Also, passenger Marquell Jamar Goodwin, 22, Washington, D.C., was charged with possession of a stolen handgun. He was issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana, less than 10 grams.
Goodwin initially was held in the Queen Anne's County Detention Center without bail.
DFC Patrick Matteson conducted the traffic stop at 12:21 p.m. on U.S. Route 301 and state Route 302. DFC Alex Cooper, DFC George Parker, Deputy Joseph Miller and Deputy Benjamin Sachs assisted.
CHURCH HILL — Malcolm Leander Horton, 29, Fort Washington, on Jan. 29, was issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana, less than 10 grams.
He was released on personal recognizance.
Horton initially was stopped for allegedly speeding. DFC Marybeth Barlow reported that she smelled marijuana while conducting a roadside interview.
DFC Barlow conducted the traffic stop at 9:06 p.m. on southbound U.S. Route 301 and state Route 300.
