Boat fire

A boat is engulfed in flames Saturday morning near Long Cove Marina. No one was injured as a result of the fire.

ROCK HALL — Members of the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company successfully contained a working boat on fire Saturday morning.

Public Information Officer Brian Jones said Tuesday that the fire happened close to Long Cove Marina near Rock Hall. He said the fire company was dispatched to the scene at 11:51 a.m.

“When the crews arrived, the boat was fully involved in flames,” Jones said.

He said there was a vessel from the marina already in the water near the work boat. Firefighters boarded the vessel and were able to extinguish the fire.

“The boat was completely destroyed,” Jones said.

He said the operation took 30 minutes to complete and that no injuries were reported.
