Boat destroyed by fire; sinks in its slip at marina
The Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company reported on the June 12 boat fire, that “before being driven back by hose streams, a large fire ball ensured which briefly engulfed several firefighters.” They wore personal protective equipment and were not injured.

A 42-foot powerboat was fully involved with fire upon Chestertown firefighters’ arrival Sunday morning, June 12 at Great Oak Landing Resort Marina near Chestertown. The boat subsequently sank.
No injuries reported; family pet escapes house fire
According to a news release from the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal, loss from the June 11 house fire at 5791 S. Hawthorne Ave., Rock Hall, is estimated to be $200,000 to the structure and $50,000 in contents.

First season of Harbor Fun Bocce League in the books
ROCK HALL — Fourteen teams participated in the first season of the Harbor Fun Bocce League this spring. The teams met at 5:30 p.m. each Tuesday — excluding those rainy ones — to compete in the Civic Center. Organizer Carol Faggiani said participants ranges from 22 to 92 years old. The league will be back for another season in the fall. Registration will begin in August. Our photo was taken Tuesday, June 7.
