WORTON — Petey and Callie are 15-year-old cats waiting for a new home. Both were brought to the Animal Care Shelter of Kent County last June when their previous owner couldn’t care for them anymore.
All of their daily routines, the comfy spots they knew and the hands that used to feed them disappeared.
The staff knew that these seniors needed an extra comfy place to live while they adjusted, so they were quickly brought to Executive Director Jane’s office. There they were given free rein and soft blankets and pillows. They were — and still are — spoiled with treats and cuddles, and now they seem to have adjusted nicely. However, they deserve more than we can give them. They deserve a warm home full of lots of love and a doting family who will help them live out their days in comfort.
Whether it’s Petey singing you a song while he bumps his head against your face, or Callie’s soft purrs as she snuggles up next to you, they will tell you how much they appreciate your love.
All cat adoption fees are waived for the month of July. Fill out an application at kenthumane.org/adopt and visit them anytime from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
The shelter is located at 10720 Augustine Herman Highway outside Chestertown.
