CHESTERTOWN — The Kent County High School National Art Honor Society and Visual Arts will dedicate a public art memorial honoring those who have who have given their lives in service to our nation at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23. This dedication is the culmination of a project begun several months ago.
Art students at KCHS partnered with community organizations and local potters to create several hundred ceramic poppies that will be installed on the lawn of the Kent County Government Building at 400 High Street.
The dedication will include music from Kent County students and Chester River Chorale’s River Voices along with brief remarks. This temporary public art installation will be on display through Memorial Day Weekend.
The more than 400 “Poppies for Peace” are available for sponsorship as well. All funds raised will support KCHS arts programming and local veterans’ groups. If you have questions about the project or sponsoring a poppy, please email hester@kentculture.org or call 410-778-3700.
