CHESTERTOWN — The Peoples Bank has announced the resignation of long-serving member of the board of directors Elizabeth A. “Betty Ann” Strong.

A member of the board for 25 years, Strong was the first woman elected to the board, a significant milestone for the bank, a news release states. Strong is the former owner and manager of the Rock Hall Insurance Agency.

As Strong vacates her position, the bank has named Corey Duncan and Herman “Trey” Hill as new board members.

The Peoples Bank is grateful for Strong’s many years of dedicated service and commitment to the bank and the community, the release states. During her tenure, Strong served as a member of the Personnel Committee, as a trustee of the Retirement Plan and as the secretary of the board.

“Betty Ann promoted and represented The Peoples Bank for a quarter-century,” said Tad Wheatley, board chairman. “She worked steadfastly through good times and bad for the Bank and the community. In the Rock Hall market, Betty Ann was a source of faithful counsel for the officers of the Bank. Her happy personality and gracious smile will be missed by the directors and employees.”

Duncan, a certified public accountant and certified business manager, is currently a partner and executive committee member for TGM Group LLC, a tax and accounting firm in Easton. Previously, Duncan owned a successful tax and accounting firm for 15 years before merging with his current company.

Duncan’s previous board memberships include the United Fund of Talbot County, Bryan Brothers Foundation, Talbot Hospice, Easton Rotary Youth and Community Fund and the Chesapeake College Foundation board.

Hill is manager and partner at Harborview Farms, a successful large-scale farming operation where he has been a partner since 1998. Hill also speaks nationally and internationally about sustainable farming practices.

Hill currently serves on the board of the Hughes Center for Agro Ecology, ShoreRivers, and the FMC Sustainability Council, the 4th largest agricultural chemical company in the world. He formerly served on the Kent County Zoning Appeals Board, United Way and the Sassafras Riverkeepers.

“All of us at The Peoples Bank are excited to welcome our newest members to the Board of Directors,” said Ralph Dowling, president and CEO of The Peoples Bank. “Trey and Corey are both standouts in their respective fields and will add great depth and expertise to the Board. We couldn’t be more honored to have them join the team.”
