READING, Pa. — Maggie Fitzpatrick Jones of Chestertown has earned a Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude from Albright College.
A graduate of Kent County High School, Jones majored in psychobiology: molecular with a minor in evolutionary studies as a member of Class of 2021.
Announced during a live broadcast, May 25, Jones also earned from Albright College the Abram Karlip Outstanding Senior Female Athlete Award. A student-athlete, Jones was a member of the women’s soccer and swimming teams.
Albright graduates from the classes of 2020 and 2021 celebrated the 161st commencement ceremony together at Santander Arena on Sunday, May 30.
Founded in 1856 and located in Reading, Pa., Albright enrolls more than 1,800 full-time undergraduates and 700 adult learners and graduate students.
WESTMINSTER — Christian Walker of Chestertown has enrolled at McDaniel College in Westminster as a member of the Class of 2025.
This list includes students who have deposited as of May 3.
Walker is a graduate of Gunston School and plans to study environmental studies.
DENTON — The Choptank Electric Cooperative board of directors awarded 10 Luck of the Draw scholarships for $1,000 at the end of the 83rd Choptank Electric Cooperative Annual Meeting live stream in April.
Among the the students who were awarded the scholarship were: Emma McClary, from The Gunston School, attending Bucknell University and Helena Cress, from Chestertown Christian Academy, attending Southern Adventist University.
Amy Brandt, Caroline County director, and Olin Davis, Kent County director, drew the names from the 27 members who submitted and successfully completed the application process.
The Luck of the Draw scholarship is awarded by randomly selecting students during a live drawing. To enter the drawing, students must fill out a basic information application, read a Choptank article and answer a 10-question quiz based on the article.
