MILLINGTON — One driver was killed and two other drivers were transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries suffered in a three-vehicle crash Friday night on state Route 291 east of Old Morgnec Road.
Maryland State Police reported that Anthony Joseph Poole Jr., 51, of Millington was pronounced dead at the scene of the June 11 crash.
The other drivers’ injuries were said to be non-life-threatening, according to an MSP news release.
Poole was operating a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis westbound on Route 291 when, for reasons that have not been determined, he lost control of the car that subsequently struck a vehicle in the eastbound lane.
Poole’s car struck the front of a 2007 Ford Freestyle, which then spun around in the eastbound lane and struck a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis in the front with the right rear passenger side door, according to the news release.
The crash was at 5:45 p.m.
Police did not identify the other drivers.
All occupants of the Ford Freestyle — two adults and two children, according to police — were transported to Christiana Hospital in Delaware.
The driver of the 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis was transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown.
A state police CRASH Team is continuing its investigation.
