CHESTERTOWN — The Kent County Health Department is reminding residents that open enrollment for health insurance is going on now and runs through Dec. 15.
“As you local health officer, I want to be sure everyone in Kent County who needs health insurance knows quality plans are available through Maryland Health Connection, the state’s official marketplace,” said Kent County Health Officer William Webb in a news release. “Getting a quality health plan that works for your budget is easier than you might think.”
Open enrollment through the Maryland Health Connection began Nov. 1.
According the release from the Health Department, rates have dropped this year and new options called “value plans” have lower deductibles and out-of-pocket costs. Financial assistance also is available to help pay for plans.
Webb said that nine out of 10 Marylanders who enrolled last year saw savings.
“You can find a health plan that works for your family and your budget,” Webb said.
There also is free, in-person help available to navigate the enrollment process. Contact the Health Department at 410-778-1350 or visit MarylandHealthConnection.gov/help to find and office or event nearby.
“I encourage everyone to explore their options at MarylandHealthConnection.gov, where you can find a health plan that gives you peace of mind as you head into the new year. Don’t wait! You only have until December 15 to make sure you are covered in 2020,” Webb said.
