CENTREVILLE — Queen Anne’s County Public Schools (QACPS) Superintendent Dr. Andrea M. Kane recently announced new school administrator assignments for the 2019-2020 school year as a result of last month's Board of Education meeting.

“I am pleased to announce the promotion and assignment of our new school-based administrators for the 2019-2020 school year. Each brings experience, background, and skills that make each leader an excellent organizational fit for their school community,” Kane said. “Each leader will continue to use their instructional leadership capacity to drive progress in student achievement.”

Krystal Chambers who was this past school year, Assistant Principal at Kent Island High will transition to Principal of Centreville Middle. Chambers spent the last three years as an assistant principal at KIHS and says throughout her career, her educational experiences have afforded her the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of people to meet the common goal of increasing student achievement. In 2005, Chambers began working for Howard University Middle School of Mathematics and Science in Washington, D.C. She started her career at Howard University (MS)2 as an Instructional Aide and was fortunate to spend 11 years as a classroom teacher.

In addition to teaching at Howard University (MS)2, she taught for the District of Columbia Public Schools and Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS). She worked as an Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Program Coordinator preparing students for college readiness and coaching teachers in AVID curriculum methodologies while in PGCPS. Chambers holds a teaching credential from Howard University, along with her Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education and History. She earned her Master’s in Educational Leadership and Administration credential from Trinity Washington University. Chambers grew up in Newark, NJ and is now the parent of a daughter attending QACPS.

Robert Watkins, Jr., Supervisor of Instruction, Central Office will assume the role of Principal at Sudlersville Middle School for the 2019-20 school year. Watkins began his teaching career in 2001 at Stevensville Middle Schoo; and during his ten years at STMS, served as a math teacher, math specialist, and teacher specialist.

In 2011, Watkins became an assistant principal at Kent Island High School. In 2012, he was promoted to a supervisor of instruction for K-12 mathematics for QACPS. Watkins earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Wilmington University. He and his wife reside in Ridgely with their two daughters.

Principal at Sudlersville Middle School, Sean Kenna will transfer to Stevensville Middle to serve as principal there. Kenna started his career with QACPS in 2000 as a social studies teacher and football coach at Queen Anne’s County High School. In 2006, he was promoted to assistant principal, earning his first principalship at Stevensville Middle in 2009. The first middle school engineering program began during his tenure and STMS surged to one of the top performing middle schools in the state.

In 2012, Kenna was reassigned to Kennard Elementary School, where he was named QACPS Administrator of the Year. He became principal at Sudlersville Middle School in 2017.

Kenna holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Studies, and a Master’s in Public School Administration. His certifications include: Social Studies, Special Education, Administrator I & II and Superintendent. He teaches Education classes at Salisbury University and Washington College. He is a proud resident of Queen Anne’s County and lives in Church Hill with his wife and two daughters.
